When most people think of martial arts, Kung Fu is the first thing that comes to mind, however, the world of martial arts is expansive and covers a variety of fighting styles and techniques.

One of the more popular martial arts to emerge in recent decades is Jiu-Jitsu. Jiu-Jitsu is both a martial art and combat sport that promotes the notion that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against bigger, stronger opponents by using leveraging techniques. These leveraging techniques commonly employ joint locks and chokeholds. If you watch the popular mixed martial arts sports today, you’ll see a variety of fighting styles that use Jiu-Jitsu techniques.

Vandry BJJ Academy, located in Austin, TX specializes in training everyone from beginners to accomplished competitors in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In addition to this particular martial art, Vandry also offers instruction on MMA and Muay Thai training.
